This is what I use at the moment:
- Canon 40D
- EF 17-40/4 L
- EF 50/1.8
- EF 70-200/4 L
- EF 85/1.8
- 420 EX flash
- Manfrotto 055 CLB tripod (same as Bogen 3021 BN)
- Manfrotto 486RC2 ball-head
I love the 17-40 zoom, but on a 1.6 crop camera it’s neither wide nor long enough. When I do street shooting, I need to change lenses quite often, and that’s a nuisance — I miss shots, I get dust inside the camera, run the risk of dropping a lens, loosing a lens cap, etc. Ideally I’d like a high-quality zoom with a wider range, something like the EF 24-105/4 L IS, but to take real advantage of that lens, I’d need a full-frame camera. Wouldn’t that be sweet: Canon 5D with 17-40, 24-105 and 70-200. But at this point full-frame is still too expensive, and like I’ve said elsewhere, it’s not my equipment that’s limiting my photography.
