Ice on the Outer Alster

25 01 2010

Now this is a rare event! The last time Hamburg’s iconic lake froze deep enough for people to go on the ice was in 1997, and this year it’s happened again! Although the police are urging everyone to wait for another day or two, a few hundred people were courageous enough today, and I was amongst them! :-)

Here is one more image taken two days later.

Wow, fantastic fotos! I love the one with the biker jumping!
It’s good to have a real winter again, isn’t it?
Up to now I was too lazy to take pictures in the snow. I really should do that also:-)

Greetings, Gabi

I WISH I COULD BE THERE. THE LAST TIME THE ALSTER WAS FROZEN WAS 14 YEARS AGO AND I HAD THE BEST TIME .MAYBE I SHOULD FLY IN FOR THIS RARE OCCASION.

The first looks pretty, the last is beauty. Others are pretty too, but traditional trip shots. Thank you! They’re resembling to images from Holland, where my mother worked several times.

Bojidar,
I just got to say that you took great pictures of me doing the “simple” jumping on the iced Außenalster. Together with the perfect moment of the sunset this picture is going to be a huge printout soon at my place ;)

Thanks for those shots, the new ones in the forest and every single one we will take in the future =]

Talk to you later, enjoy the summer

Klaus
